Well, it has been over a month since I have posted. I would say a lot has happened but that would be lying slightly. I have been active, just not that active. Anyway, first of all I have an update on my work situation (or lack of, as was the situation). Well I am still unemployed BUT I have applied to 2 places who I know are looking for staff. The first place is The Black Bear beefeater place in Mount Vernon. I would really like to work there, as it seems a really nice place. I went up today to get an application form and the woman was really friendly, which was a great thing because I would rather not work in a place where the staff are as miserable as anything. However, maybe my first impression wasn't as good as hers as she asked me my age and I said "18". This is not the case as I am, in fact, 19! This was quite stupid of me but a similar thing has happened before: I was watching the TV and a competition came on to win a car and it said you had to be 17 or over to enter and I said "I wish I could enter" [Insert sad face], then it came to me, I AM 17, therefore I could enter; needless to say that I didn't enter, so therefore didn't win but the fact I could enter if I had wanted to was nice enough. Anyway, so The Black Bear is looking like a good place to work so I may be seeing some of you there (that, of course, is assuming you frequent there on occasions). The second place is The King's Park Hotel. They will be recruiting near the end of the month (or so they told me). This would be very handy in terms of location as it is about a 15 minutes walk from my house, so I would never be too far away and less likely to be late. Again the reception people all seemed nice enough and it also seems like a good place to work. However, I am a bit worried as some of my old High School teachers go there when they are having Christmas nights out. That is all I would need, all my old teachers going about drunk and telling me what they really thought of people and possibly me. It would be better if I were still at school and saw this as I could then blackmail them but c'est la vie. The good thing about both of them are that they are opened on Christmas day so I might get a Christmas shift, which means overtime, meaning more money! That would be good as I want a new camera as my current digital camera isn't that great and it eats batteries like it's nobodies business. It's not that great as a lot of my London photos are blurry but I couldn't tell that on the LCD screen so they are pretty much useless. I am hoping to get a really good camera with a rechargeable battery. That would be good but of course needs the money for it, which I don't have. Oh, and I also need the money to get a new phone contract. See, my current contract ends in about December and my dad (who foots the bill for it) is cancelling it so that means I now have to pick up the bill. So I have decided to go for the iPhone 3GS. So hopefully by the end of the year I will be working and have a nice new phone.
In other news, my Hayfever is being kept at bay. Some of you may not get this but my hayfever is a son of a bitch and usually ruins EVERY summer I have had. However, this year, not so much. When it was very warm outside and there was no air getting in our house at all it was bad but now it is fine. As long as I keep taking my tablets, everything is fine. I have tried new things this year so I am wondering if they have been paramount to it calming down. Irregardless, it is not making much of a fuss now, which meant that I was able to enjoy London SO much more than I did at points last time due to feeling like a train had crashed into my face and being on strong sedatives.
That leads very nicely (I wonder if I meant to do that, who knows, well I do) onto London. As I said this time was much better not only due to lack of hayfever but also because it just was. First I got to go to Harrods this year. Last year we tried going but we were on Oxford Street trying to find it when it is actually located in Knightsbridge. This was very handy for us this time round as we the "hotel" we were staying in was close to the Gloucester Road tube station, which has the Piccadilly line running through it and it's next stop is Knightsbridge. So I finally got to see what all the fuss was about. When I went in it shocked me. It was like your average, run-of-the-mill shopping store. It was like a palace. Each area was designed magnificently. My particular favourite was the Egyptian room. Also, they had a sale on. You would never have known it with some of the prices on items. I saw a watch that had the miniscule price of only £126,000. That is not much less than my house at the moment! Who the hell would pay that much for a watch? It was an okay looking watch but at the most I would pay £20 for it, not £126k. So we wondered about more. We went to the LG lounge. This was amazing. Small. But amazing. It had LG Renoir demos and the most amazing TV I have ever seen. It was a TV that showed things in 3D (what it was showing had to be filmed in 3D first of course) without the use of they very uncomfortable glasses. It wasn't so impressive up close because you could see the effects they use to make it 3D that is sorted when you have the glasses on. But when you stand back a bit you can see how impressive it is. There was no price tag funnily enough and to be honest I would rather not know the price for such technology. Also, they had a Sony Centre. This had my favourite thing in it. It was the Sony Rolly (I have just discovered that it was an MP3 player). This was moving about in a glass bowl. It was funny to see this as I am called Rolly by some friends and family because that is what either my gran or my great gran (on my mum's side) used to call my dad Rolly (his name is also Ronald) so this name has now been passed onto me. Before we left Harrods we decided that we should get something to drink from it. So I bought two bottles of water that were buy one get one free at only about 89p. This was the best bargain I had seen in the entire place. So I got my coveted Harrods bag. The next day we attempted to go see Madame Tussauds. However, the queue was massive so we decided to try again on the Monday before we left. So on the Sunday we went to visit my cousin Charlene, her husband James and their daughter Kayla. This was really good as the last time we went down to see them we didn't get to spend the whole day there as we had to go get our flight home. However, this time we stayed all day. We took Kayla to the park and had much fun there. I had to help Kayla climb up something and ended up on the top of the thing myself. I then slid down a pole to get down and then went on a zip wire just for the hell of it. There is photo evidence of this but I will not be releasing it as I don't want to. So then we went and got a Chinese take away and watched a programme about Michael Jackson (apparently he died, I don't know if anyone heard as it hasn't been reported much). So we left about 10pm and got the 40 minute train journey to Victoria station, in which we saw some random guy walking through the station in only his boxers and shoes. This was very surreal but didn't faze me as the previous night I had seen two guys dressed as Freddie Mercury. This was when we went to see Blood Brothers (this was my 4th time seeing it and my 3rd time seeing it in the West End). It was amazing. The best performance I have seen of it. It starred Niki Evans (from X Factor series 4, she was the one whose dad died and she found the X Factor application form in with his belongings). She was amazing at the part. She has a big powerful voice and she used it very well. The final song, Tell Me It's Not True, was the best I have ever heard it as Niki put so much emotion into but still had the power in her voice. This was the first time, that I remember anyway, that the crowd gave a standing ovation. I was really pleased for all the cast as they were all incredibly strong in their roles and it just cements my determination to become an actor as I see the sort of reaction you can receive if you work hard in your role. So on the final day tried Madame Tussauds again but the queue was still too long so we decided to not bother as we didn't want to have to rush through everything and then maybe have to rush to get our bags and then go to the airport. So we decided to just go get a Starbucks and then get our bags. Then we were off to the Airport to catch our flight home. The funny thing was that we flew down and back with easyJet, transferred from the airport to Fulham Broadway and then back on an easyBus and stayed in Kensington in the easyHotel. Everything was "easy" with this trip but the swines don't give any sort of discount for using so many of their services. But overall I really enjoyed my trip. Oh, we also went to the London Transport Museum, which was fun as we had to go through Covent Garden market to get there and there were men standing on podiums painted silver and standing like statues. I felt like going up and pushing them a bit or to try make them laugh but I didn't bother. My last point about London is that everyone rushes there and their are crowds everywhere, especially in Primark: you would have thought that they were going to stop selling clothes the way everyone was rushing about.
Lastly, I would like to talk about college. I am due to start back on 31st August. I can't wait. I am really excited to see what production we are doing. I am hoping that I get a role that I like unlike Jim Heeler who I really could have done without as I didn't like the character. But oh well, we will just have to wait and see. Before I go back to college though I will be attending a TV Presenting course from the 3rd - 8th August. I am looking forward to that as at the end you get a video reel of your performance to keep, which you can show others if you were trying to get a job in presenting. I feel like this will give me some excellent experience and will help open my horizons.
Oh, I forgot to mention that on Friday the 26th June, Kayla (college pal, lol) turned 21 and I was there at her party, which I was really happy about. I had a great night, even though I wasn't out that long. I spent most of the night chatting with Jenna about Lost and her latest mobile James T, which is a Blackberry. However, I regret to announce the sad passing of James T and mourn his loss. But I am sure Jenna will find a worthy replacement.
So I will say goodbye just now and hope to god that this gets posted because if it doesn't then I will be very unhappy as it has taken me about half a century to write it. So, until next time...
